Penela Municipal Pool accessibility improvements completed
Penela Municipal Pool now has a designated accessible parking space, a replacement entrance door and a handrail leading to the smaller pool, creating a more continuous accessible route through the facility.
A specialist chair for entering the water has also been purchased. Visitors who need it should contact the pool before travelling to confirm assistance, availability and the current operating arrangements.
The pool application was valued at €10,151.24 and received €9,756.24 in funding through PIEP — Acessibilidades 360, part of Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Part of a wider accessibility programme
Penela has four approved applications with the Instituto Nacional para a Reabilitação. Accessibility works are also underway or prepared for the former tourist office, the Roman Villa of Rabaçal museum space and Penela Municipal Market.
