Discover Penela is not the Municipality of Penela. Information sent to this site is not a formal submission to a public authority.
What is processed and why
- Contact enquiries: the name, reply email, organisation and message you choose to send are used to answer the request, prepare a proposal, correct content or manage a working relationship. The website only prepares an email in your own mail application and does not store the form fields on its server.
- Technical requests: hosting and security providers may process IP address, browser and request information needed to deliver and protect the site.
- Public submissions: business details, corrections and story suggestions are checked before publication. Personal contact details are not published unless this is clearly agreed or already intended as a public business contact.
- Directory and editorial research: public business and professional information may be checked against an organisation’s website, an official public register, a public professional profile or information supplied for publication. Discover Penela records the source and review date internally, limits publication to relevant public-facing details and considers correction, objection or removal requests.
The legal bases are steps requested before a possible agreement, performance of an agreement, compliance with legal duties, and legitimate interests in answering enquiries, publishing an accurate guide and protecting the service.
Sofia and artificial intelligence
Sofia is an AI assistant supplied through the Presença AI platform. She is clearly identified as AI and does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Her answers can be wrong and are not municipal, legal, medical, financial or emergency advice.
Presença AI is not connected until you choose “Start Sofia”. It then opens in an isolated frame on the Contact page. Text questions and recent conversation context are sent to Presença AI and its configured AI provider to generate an answer. If you separately activate voice and grant browser permission, audio and reply text may be processed by configured speech services. The live-avatar service is disabled for Discover Penela.
The conversation displayed in the widget lasts for the current browser session. Discover Penela does not maintain its own conversation database. Technical providers may keep limited security and service logs under their applicable contracts and retention settings. Do not provide passwords, card details, identity documents, health data or other sensitive information.
Retention and recipients
General enquiry emails are normally kept for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact, unless an ongoing agreement, dispute or legal duty requires longer. Contract, invoicing and tax records are kept for the period required by Portuguese law. Published business information remains while it is current and useful, and is corrected or removed when appropriate.
Recipients are limited to the operator and providers needed for email, hosting, security and the optional Sofia functions described above. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area; where applicable, this requires a valid transfer mechanism such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards.
Your rights
Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to processing. You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis, without affecting earlier lawful processing. Write to dosreisruben@gmail.com. Children under 13 should not send personal information or use Sofia without help from a parent or legal guardian. This site does not knowingly use children’s data for advertising or profiling.
