Young people / Penela explained
Sports Holidays
An active school break for children and teenagers—explained here from start to finish.

Penela’s sports-holiday programme brings ages 6–17 together for movement, friendship and time outdoors. No specialist sporting background is required.
What it is
A holiday programme built around enjoyable physical activity, group life and new friendships. Activities are presented playfully while still supporting technique, confidence and respect for shared spaces.
- Swimming and water games
- Handball, volleyball, basketball and futsal
- Tennis and table tennis
- Outdoor walks, trips and group activities
What families should know
Each edition has its own dates, places, capacity and enrolment form. Read the current programme before applying; do not rely on a previous year’s timetable.
What a typical day feels like
The programme mixes organised sport with informal group activity, so the day is not built around competition alone. A child might move between a coached activity, a water session, a shared lunch break and a team challenge outdoors.
Groups, venues and timetables are set for each edition. Families should use the current enrolment notice—not a previous year’s routine—to confirm drop-off, collection and any transport arrangements.
What to prepare
Comfortable sports clothing, sun protection, a refillable water bottle and any swimming equipment requested in the notice are the practical basics. Label personal belongings and tell the organisers about health, allergy or accessibility needs at registration.
- Check the correct age group
- Confirm meals and transport
- Declare medical or support needs
- Keep the organiser’s contact number
Register with the right information
Before registering, open the notice for the current edition and match the child or young person to the correct age group. Confirm the programme dates, daily hours, drop-off and collection points, whether a fee applies, meals and any transport: these details can change between editions.
The registration should include current guardian contacts and any medication, allergy, disability or other support need the team must plan for. Where places are limited, treat the application as a request until the organiser confirms that it has been accepted.
